Food
The food that Biljana prepares with a special charm is homemade, she has her own fruits and vegetables, while she buys dairy products and meat from her first neighbors. Her specialties are mostly traditional cakes, pies, and various pastries. One of them is a strudel, a cake that is prepared with jam from the farm itself. Cakes prepared in a special way, using the recipe of her ancestors, are very tasty and specific to this region.

Biljana is the only person living in the household and she returned from abroad to live in the village, on the estate left to her by her father. She found her peace and enjoyment in the village itself, and the orchards near the house. Biljana’s brother and his family sometimes come to spend their summer vacation together. She is a very active representative of the village, and she tries to valorize it at various events.
Biljana leads a quiet life in the village, she has a garden where she plants vegetables, which she uses to make food. She has also got a large orchard and uses its fruits to make homemade brandy, jams, and preserves.
The village of Gornja Bijela is located near the motorway leading from Nikšić to Žabljak, which connects the central and northern part of Montenegro.
The Monastery of St. Georgije gives the special charm of the village, it is about 1,000 years old, and it was built by Prince Vladimir Dukljanski.
The river Bijela’s waterfall called Crnjak is set close to the household, and during the spring (when the snow melts) and during rainy summer days it enchants the visitors. And on hot, summer days, the natural pool on the river is used by the locals, they swim and try to cool down a bit. Also, one of the natural attractions is the source of the river Bijela, which is located 300m from the house. For true adrenaline junkies, there is a possibility to go through the river canyon, which has become increasingly popular in recent period.
At about 10 km from the village, a wind farm was built, which is a real sensation with its windmills.
